Typical Project
QHYCCD has extensive experience in developing large-format CMOS mosaic cameras. A typical example is a 2 × 2 mosaic camera integrating four CMOS sensors, which combines high-precision sensor alignment, high-speed data transmission, and an efficient cooling system to achieve ultra-large-format scientific imaging for astronomy, remote sensing, industrial inspection, and other high-performance imaging applications.
2 × 2 CMOS Mosaic Camera Based on Sony IMX411
To meet the requirements of a large-format scientific imaging project, the customer specified the following key sensor requirements:
Sensor size of at least 36.8 mm × 36.8 mm
Resolution of at least 5K × 8K
Total effective pixels of no less than 6K × 6K
Based on these requirements, QHYCCD selected the Sony IMX411 CMOS sensor and developed a 2 × 2 mosaic camera integrating four sensors into a single imaging system.
The IMX411 features an active imaging area of 53.4 mm × 40.0 mm. Considering the sensor package dimensions (75 mm × 63.6 mm) and assembly tolerances, the complete 2 × 2 sensor assembly measures approximately 150.7 mm × 127.9 mm.
Through optimized mechanical layout and high-precision sensor alignment, the effective imaging area occupies approximately 44.4% of the overall sensor package, achieving an efficient large-format mosaic while maintaining the mechanical stability required for scientific imaging applications.
The system combines:
High-precision sensor alignment
High-speed data transmission
Efficient TEC cooling
Synchronized multi-sensor acquisition
to deliver ultra-large-format, high-resolution imaging for applications including astronomical observation, remote sensing, and industrial inspection.
The figure below shows the overall layout of the 2 × 2 IMX411 mosaic sensor assembly.
