QHY268C Buffers Three Frames

Hi,
I modified a new SDK,it can output frame directly after you change the expose time. You can try it,this SDK is 32 bits.
Best Regards,
QinXiaoXu

Hi, I've just tried SDK this and now the camera (QHY268C) loops endlessly and won't take any frames.
Tried with two different versions of Sharpcap.

Well, strange, please download attachment, put qhyccd.ini to the same folder with SDK,and setup DebugView like this.
And run SharpCap,send the log file to me.

Hello,

I have a similar problem and solved a part of it. But the QHY company has to solve this problem because we are talking about 3000 Dollar camera.

I am using the QHY 268C with Sharpcap 3.2 (32 and 64 bit) and newest QHY driver from 2021. I have to wait 2 frames to get the frame I want. Then I installed the old driver from 2020. Now the camera needs double time to show a frame. Better than 3 frames but still not good. Than I installed the new driver back. So it seems that with new driver on a complet new system there are three frames problem.

But now next problem. If I set DDR Buffer ON  and than OFF than the camera works and I can see the current frame in the LiveViewer. With DDR Buffer ON I have to wait 1 frame to get current frame.

So the workaround is to set DDR Buffer ON and OFF to get current frame. But if I change the exposure time I have to do this again.

I tried changing USB Traffic, Cable and other options. I am working with high end computer so there cannot be another reason. So please checks whats wrong. Otherwise I have to sent the camera back.

Thanks

Hi,
You said the 2020 version driver and 2021 version,do you mean the QHYCCD All in one pack?
And did you try the SDK I attached above?

Let me recap:

1. There are many users reporting this issue.

2. QHY has admitted that the 268C buffers multiple frames.

3. At first, the QHY response seemed to imply this was working as intended, until confronted by customers that this is a bug.

4. Then QHY said this may be an issue leftover from a prior development, and would look into it.

5. Customers continue to report these issues, and go through many steps, drivers, SDKs, tests, and cannot resolve this.  I have not seen one person get a stable one frame buffer.

6. QHY's answers have become unproductive and non-responsive.

7. Your customers want to keep their $2,500 - $3,000 cameras if you will address this issue.  But there is no apparent progress, only dead ends.

8. This is confusing considering QHY can replicate this issue, has access to SharpCap, and can even send a 268C to Robin Glover to help debug this.

9. Please properly investigate and resolve this issue with a proper release. I've waited months now, and am ready to return this for an ASi2600.  I like the QHY268C features, but all my ASi cameras work fine.

10. If you don't intend to take this issue seriously, then please just say, so that we can all make a decision and move on.

Thank you.

@AMARGOSASKY

Thanks for your post. This is exactly what I wanted to say. Astronomy is expensive but also for european people 3000 dollar are 1-2 full salary's. For this I could buy 2 standard sony or canon cameras which will work.

@QinXiaoXu
Yes, I downloaded the AllinOneDriver. And I didn't try your SDK from this forum because the SDK is a content of the AllinOneDriver and I don't want to try workarounds. I need a working hardware. I am a little bit disappointed.

I spoke with some people and they don't have this problem. The reason is simple. They are using other tools and only for focusing they use sharpcap. But for focusing on a star you use 1/250 exposure or maximum 1 s, so maybe they didn't notice this problem with short exposure.

Hi,
For AMARGOSASKY,in fact,I don't want discuss if this a bug, because I'm a software worker, the judgement standard of bug maybe is different with you,I just want to explain this to you from my point, sorry, this is my mistake. But this is not to matter, you want change I will modify it,and I sent you a new SDK about it,but you said it can't work, and I send you a debug software to get debug info,I need this debug info to check why I can use but you can't.But you didn't send the debug file back,I sent it in 21.3.30,but I din't get any reply from you in these days.Thi is why I has no any progress in these days,I can't modify source code without debug info. And if you don't know how to use the debug,we can do remote control.
Sorry for the long speech,I just want to say I need debug info and feedback.

For TigerClaw, yes,in short expose, this issue will be not obvious, because its speed is fast.
And I attached the SDK that I sent to AMARGOSASKY,please try it,if it still can't work, please let me know,we can do remote control to get the debug info.

    And my email is qxx@qhyccd.com.
Best Regards,
QinXiaoXu

Hi,

I put the SDK in the SharpCap folder. But than camera show me a black frames. 1/3 of this frame has more brightness. Than I restartet my machine and now no frame is showing. So  I disconnected the camera and connected it again and now it's working like before. Nothing changed.

Here is the debug information:

This will be difficult because I work 7 days a week and have some experiments at work. So I don't have regular working time.

FYI, like another user, I am able to bypass this bug under these conditions:

(1) DDR Buffer On
(2) Change exposure time
(3) DDR Buffer OFF (before exposure completes)

This seems to prevent double or triple frame buffer, and the above three steps must be done exactly.  Sometimes with this workaround it will buffer a few seconds past first frame, but not a full double or triple.

Here is the debug log info (this configuration resulted in the 2x frame buffer issue):
