Hello,
       In this month we will begin to delivery the early bird price QHY600!  In this topic , I will keep on posting the lastest news of this camera. The context will be put to QHYCCD facebook also.

       QHYCCD offer a limited Early Bird Price for the user order in these month.  The early bird price is USD5000. If ordering a QHYCFW3L or QHYCFW3XL together with QHY600 early bird price , can get 10% discount for CFW3L/XL.

       QHY600 includes two version. One is the QHY600U3, we call it as Photography version or Amateur version . Another is the QHY600U3G20, we call it as Professional version.

       The QHY600 early bird price is based on the Professional version hardware design. But not offer most of the professional function in the professional version.

This is a QHY600 Readout noise and fullwell test diagram.  Please note this is a early information. Not the final version. QHYCCD is doing more fine-tune for the performance of the sensor and the final curve maybe changed.

For this picture we know the readout noise is between 2.2e to the 3.7e in this camera in LGC mode

Actually there is an even lower readout noise from 1.0e to 1.6e in HGC  We will post the curve soon. 

Finally we will combine HGC and LGC into one curve.

But could you explain the specific technical differences between QHY600U3 and QHY600U3G20 cameras?

The QHY600U3 has only USB3.0 interface.  The QHY600U3G20 has both USB3.0 interface and the high speed filber interface.  And also QHY600U3G20 has rich external io which can used for advanced functions. The most important thing is that the QHY600U3G20's internal FPGA can be customized as the specially request by user (have extra cost or no cost, depend on how complex the project it is) . Which is very flexible for the research work. 


The early bird price USD5000. using the QHY600U3G20 hardware design. So in future it accept to upgrade to the QHY600U3G20 version by patch the cost.

One more thing: I see is that both QHY600s have two different "size". One is long and one shorter design. I would think the longer version is the QHY600U3G20 while the short one is the QHY600U3. Is that correct assumption? Much weight difference between the two?

Yes. The longer is QHY600U3G20.

The QHY600U3G20 weight is 915g (not including the center/tilt adjust ring) 
The shorter one is about 100g less than QHY600U3G20 I think (eg. QHY367C is more than 700g).

QHY600 can work with QHYCFW3 and QHYCFW2. We recommend the QHYCFW3L and QHYCFW3XL

QHYCFW3L is 7 position round 50mm/2inch disk
QHYCFW3XL is 9 position round 50mm/2inch disk /  7 position 50mm rectangle disk

Although it is 16bit, but the gain behavior is similar with other cmos. In higher gain you can get lower readout noise, but the fullwell will reduce. In low gain you can get higher fullwell but the readout noise is bigger.   You need to decide the best gain for your applications.  If you want to do longer exposure time, we recommend you use low gain.  If you want to use short exposure , we recommend you use higher gain.

The camera sensor tile is after our calibration when build the camera. We will guarantee the tilt is not exceed a value (typically +-20um for APS-C/Fullframe) . The camera comes with the center/tilt adjust ring.  This ring is using the thin spacer method to give a tilt adjustment. You need paste a cooper / Al film on the camera front part . The direction can be measured by some focal plane quality software.

QHY600 System Gain/Fullwell/Readout Noise/Dynamic range Curves

Here we show one readout mode. This mode includes a HGC/LGC auto-switch between gain=55 and gain=56.  We have some other readout mode and it will give different results. Different readout mode has different advantages. We will give an options in the software to allow user to change the readout mode.

About the QE value of QHY600

Since sony has not release the absolutely QE curve. There is only a relativity QE curve . We can only guess the QE value of it based on some information we gathered on the social media.


One month before there is a post appears on the social media and indicate some absolutely QE of the new SONY SENSOR.
It is :

IMX284 3.91um 24MP FSI QE52% FWC 32ke
IMX???  3.96um 24MP BSI QE89% FWC 53ke
IMX???  3.96um 54MP BSI QE89% FWC 54ke

From this data. The 3.96um pixel size is very close to the 3.76um pixel size of QHY600.  If there is no great structure improvement for the IMX??? than IMX455, like the Stacked BSI technology, we should consider the QHY600 QE is similar with this sensor. Maybe a little less than it but should not too faraway.

Also from the QE of QHY183M.  It is 84% for 2.4um. 

So we have a guess that the QHY600 QE should between 84% to 89% and more close to 89%.
