Readout noise.

The IMX294C sensor has HGC and LGC mode. HGC mode can reduce the readout noise a lot.  In the whole gain range , if working under the HGC mode, the gain is 1.6e to 1.0e . If working under LGC mode , the gain is 6.8e to 4.2e. 

Under lowest gain of the HGC mode, the fullwell is about 14.5ke.

The dark current.

QHY294C has very good dark current performance, with QHYCCD's technology. It is about 0.005e/pixel/sec at -20C , 0.007e/pixel/sec at -15C, 0.009e/pixel/sec at -10C

System Gain.

In lowest gain setting the system gain is about 4e/adu . In the HGC/LGC switch point it is near (a little lower)than unity gain.

Hello, I want to be sure, is this camera Cooled?   I do not see it in the specifications.  My concern is where I live, night time temps in the summer are still 32C at 1am.   I am concerned about the performance at these high temperatures without cooling.

Yes, of course, it is cooled. And please check the curve to see the dark current on the temperature. Normally speaking the delta T is 35C below ambient.

btw: The camera has two working mode  :  Single frame mode and live video mode. In video mode the sensor will continuous to working and generate the thermal.  So in live video mode the delta T will be less than the single frame mode.

Hi Qiu,

I have an important question about the read noise curve.
IMX 294 has a Quad Bayer structure (as new IMX299)

Are the values given for the basis 2.4 micron pixel or for
a cluster of 4 pixels (4.63 microns) ?

Hello,

    It is said the IM294/299 support the 8K readout  but sony lock it.

    So the output is just about 4K readout. The four pixel of quad bayer has its own channel for ADC, and sensor digital binning it into a big 4.63micron pixel.

     So the readout curve is based on the 4.63pixel, not 2.4
