QHY5III174M Tests
« on: January 01, 2019, 11:36:34 am »
Is there a test that can be done on the QHY5III174M to check integrity or quality of the pictures taken?  I'm asking because I've had some trouble in PHD2 and MetaGuide with signal to noise ratios.   A few others have this model and seem not to have the issues.  As an example in MetaGuide. The creator of Metaguide has the same camera and gave me his settings but I ended up having to bin 2, gain at max, and rate at 800 ms just to see a star.  I can't be sure its a camera problem because of different optical trains, etc...  Thought I would just ask if some type of test is available so I can further track down my issues.

Thanks

Hello,
Did you use the SHARPCAP at the same gain and exposure to see?  Another thing is that if you offset is too low maybe the background will be zero and you will not see anything?

And did you use the OAG?

QHY5III174 should has high sensitivity. eg. we had use the 50mmF1.4 photolens. To get the mag8 star at the realtime speed (30ms exposure).
