DIY Wedge on A.S.I.G.N.

Hi all,

A nice fellow asked for a design for a wedge for his SCT, so while I was at it, I thought I would go the whole hog and add it to the DIY page on the A.S.I.G.N. Observatory website.

http://www.asignobservatory.com/DIY.aspx

Its a start, a good guide and open for as many modifications as your skills and imagination will allow.

I hope it comes in handy for those looking to move onto astrophotography.

This is a simple and rigid wedge, that will get the job done.

Cheers,

Baz.

Great guide! What are the tools that we are going to prepare? Do you think that a person never touch this before can do this well?

Mate, You have to have a few tools of your own and a bit of an ability to use them, knowing tips and tricks along the way. I can tell you to drill a hole, but do you know to mark the EXACT centre with an engineers rule and a scribe? Do you know to centre punch it first then maybe drill a pilot hole first, depending on it's size? Do you know to countersink or counter bore when needed? the list goes on.

If you know what you are doing or you look into something before you go ploughing in, then yes, it is pretty simple.

One golden rule...."Measure twice, cut once." not the other way around.
