Setting Gain and Offset in QHY10

Setting Gain and Offset in QHY10
« on: September 06, 2015, 09:39:09 PM »

After few hours to try setting the GAIN and OFFSET QHY10 with the manual on hand I have the next question:

What is RMS, MIN, MAX and STD?

Where I can see the "Ideal Averange Value" after actívate Noise Analyze?

Where I see the "local Averange Value" to define the good GAIN next to 65535?

Please, help me with my questions.

If you select "noise analyze" in EZCAP menu you will see the MAX,MIN,STD,RMS.

The most important thing is the RMS(average value)

For offset adjusting you need make sure the bias frame's RMS range from 500-1000(or 500-3000 is also ok)
For gain setting you need make sure the light frame's RMS range (when over-exposured) is close to 65535.

But if you just want to make a simple setting you can use this suggestion value:

Gain always  set to zero
adjust the offset and let the bias frames' background RMS to 500-3000

After few month with the QHY10, and defined the offset and gain, I know the noise (BIAS comparison in PI) the ADU minimal I need arrive minimal to avoid the noise.

But my problem with the actual Set Up are the long time to arrive > 5 minutes to arrive the minimal ADU and after obtain information inside the photo.

If I increase the GAIN, the sensor have more stress? , Whats is the advantage or disadvantage move the GAIN?
