Hello Bob,

You're definitely doing very well with that 6" and camera combo.  Nice job on the processing, also.  How about posting some details on your setup like software used, exposure and gain for others?

Thanks for posting.

Hello Astrodan,

exposure : between 7 and 17 ms (depends of the use of a barlow)
gain : between 60 and 90%
Duration of captures : about 30s (350-450 frames only)

I use Autostakkert 2 to stack frames (stacking about 100 frames for each photo)

I use registax 6 for :
RGB Balance
RGB Align
Histogram
Wavelets (linear - default - layers 3,4 and 5)

I use paint shop pro for :
denoising
color adjust
crop
resize

That's all.

Most important is a very good collimation and good atmosphere conditions.

Hello,
Thank you very much to share the images. We did make some free offers in last year when the QHY5L-II released.  This offer has ended already.

In future we may have again such offers when there is new camera come out. Or on some of our marketing promotion. We will consider your request at that time. Please keep on watch our forum for it.

Best regards,

Hello QiuHY,

thanks a lot for your answer !

In fact, i try to explain that we can have very good results with your planetary cameras and small telescopes. I realized that results with a 6" SC are equals with big telescopes like 11" SC.

Don't forget me if you make a new free offer !

I will post some other results to show how good is the QHY5L-II.

From left to right : Callisto, Jupiter, Europe and Io.

Not excellent but not too bad. Jupiter is much more difficult then the Moon.

Hello Bob,

Yes, I think the point about smaller telescopes and better, or same, results as larger ones, is of great value to those interested in planetary imaging.  Many times larger telescopes mean temperature distortions because of larger mirrors or lenses have not had sufficient cool down time.  And since light gathering is not the primary concern with solar system objects, many times its stability, optical quality, and that all important image processing, which produces such beautiful results.  Thanks for sharing.
