QHYCCD SDK FOR WINDOWS / Re: ONE page for drivers etc.
« on: April 05, 2021, 03:46:11 AM »
Hi,
I asked balance default value to my colleague,he told me,47MP mode has not be developed,so 47MP has no defalut RGB value. And I checked the source code, the RGB default value is 16,not 120.
Best Regards,
QinXiaoXu

OK, Sharpcap loads 294PROC at 120 ... so Sharpcap must have reverted to older wrong settings - it was fixed in a earlier stable version

Hi,

to load the default camera settings into Sharpcap, you have to hold down the Ctrl key while connecting the camera in the camera menu. Then Sharpcap loads the standard settings of the driver with RGB 16 values.

regards
Marcel

Thanks, but it seems not to do it in my  case.
I wish it did.

But ... I have saved last time I used it within Sharpcap and now load settings from Capture Profiles/Load

Since installing ASCOM [mine is 6.5v] from https://www.qhyccd.cn/file/repository/publish/ascom/QHYCCD-ASCOM-Platform6.5-V21.03.10.10.exe I get error from N.I.N.A. Nightly 1.11.0.1065 when connecting QHY294PROC using ASCOM from drop-down menu, but seems to work fine on Native QHY294PROC, but without the Graphic switch and the two sliders for Cooling and Duration - just the standards controls - I also noticed the version you tried on is not latest nightly #65 - maybe that one does not have graphics - not that important any way.

Since you also state this on this page [https://www.qhyccd.com/html/prepub/log_en.html#!log_en.md]:

ASCOM
Since the old ASCOM camera driver installation put the QHYCCD.DLL to the windows/SysWow64 or windows/system32. And the recently ascom camera driver put the QHYCCD.DLL into the programe(x86)/common/ascom/camera. We recommand to delete the QHYCCD in windows/SysWow64 or windows/system32 and put the new QHYCCD.DLL to the programe(x86)/common/ascom/camera folder.

I have now checked ASCOM QHYCCD.dll within C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ASCOM\Camera\x64 and see qhyccd1.dll and qhyccd2.dll listed there and they are version 21.3.9.16

The latest qhyccd.dll version is actually 21.3.9.17, but why are there 1 and 2 ? I was going to replace them with version 21.3.9.17 only to find there are two dll !

I understand this is a 'long' working progress, but I am sorry to say I am a pretty organised person and all I can see it is a bit of a messy way to work with this camera.
Nothing is certain and files are everywhere.

Especially when it is a working progress, on e MUST keep ONE page and keep using only ONE page with links + a minimum of info.

It might sound patronising but I believe it is better for you too as users will relay info to you and you update that page as you get on with the development of the software/drivers/etc.

Hence my other https://www.qhyccd.com/bbs/index.php?topic=8408.msg40685#msg40685

... maybe add a new thread locking any posts and keep updating that, any question will have to be done through other threads, but at least you keep ONE page.

Just trying to help you and help users as well and make things more organised - easier to follow and grow the software more smoothly.

Getting back to ASCOM qhyccd.dll, what do I do now?

Thanks and I know you are working hard to try and slowly fix it up.

... I could not see it, tried, Beta and Nightly, then I noticed on your screenshot - Driver is 21.03 and I have 21.02

Anyway, I see it here:
https://www.qhyccd.com/bbs/index.php?topic=8503.msg40597#msg40597

Installed, same thing - I only see a 'red X' on the cooler ...

I am going to uninstall everything and try later, got to do some work now!

Hi,
I tested cooler with NINA,only turn cooler on has no effective,it also need click second button.
Best Regards,
QinXiaoXu

OK, thanks, I see you use the nightly, as I did not see the button there - maybe I am wrong - it was just a quick test.

Will see for that - thanks - looking forward for LIVE as well ... I have no rush any more ... been waiting long and used to wait for it now - I will get more into Solar now with the QHY174M ...

UPDATE

...in the meantime I found a link of yours where you state how to connect with various applications.

Although it is showing it for N.I.N.A. 1.9, it now starting to work through ASCOM, instead of going directly with camera and I have taken an image at 0.003 as suggested [set with G=1601]- I guess 0.003 means 3ms, but there is not any more a LIVE button.

The image is superb after screen auto-stretching [during the day] in fact better than Sharpcap - I am surprised !

Hello
While I was testing a little bit the 294Proc with SharpCap [OK], I thought I would connect it to N.I.N.A. - which I have not used yet...  I did set it up a couple of months ago and ready to learn how to use it - following a starting tutorial.

I have just updated N.I.N.A. to latest 1.10 HF2 and also copied/pasted data from QHYCCD sdk_WinMix_21.03.13\pkg_win\ 32bit and 64bit folders within C:\Program Files (x86)\N.I.N.A. - Nighttime Imaging 'N' Astronomy\External QHYCCD folder within 32 and 64 bit folders.

Anything else I ned to do?

Camera now is happily detected and also Cooling seems to 'barely' starting to work.
I set it at -10 to test it, but I see Chip Temperature showing as 0.60 / 0.00  and cooler power at 0.00 on graphics it shows as -30?  and cooler power at 0.00 !!!

Anyway, I cannot use camera in LIVE position on N.I.N.A. - I get:
Error retrieving image data from camera!

Is QHY294ProC actually set to work with N.I.N.A. yet?
Works with Sharpcap [not beta yet].
I am not in a rush, as I am waiting for you to fix the 47M problem so I can use it 'properly' on a short FL telescope - i.e. my SW 72ED

Thanks
M

QHYceced,

Here is what the histogram looks like with my custom bayer algorithm.

Peter

I think it confirms what I thought I had seen ... I am waiting for a few clear HOURS to test a bit.
I purchased this camera as my last camera [!] prior to retirement in a few years - never say last camera in Astronomy!
 ;D

See Histograms images from SER Player of 3 Moon videos I've got done yesterday - to give an idea of what was coming out ...

QHYceced,

I invented a very simple custom bayer scheme for the 47M images.  ...

47M Custom Bayer.jpg
This is what this same close-up looks like using my custom bayer algorithm. My algorithm just shuffles the pixels around to achieve a standard RGGB bayer pattern.  Every red pixel in the original is treated as a red pixel in the custom bayer image.  This is also true for the green and for the blue pixels. The image is not perfect but if several astro images were stacked, the result might have smooth transitions.

47M Legend.jpg
This is what the entire image looks like using my custom bayer algorithm.  The arrow points to the stylish bird poop.

Peter

Interesting ...

I did manage to get 'some' imaging with Moon and clouds in a very difficult household - at present, I cannot get anything done! ahahhahaa

I am trying to see what the results are and I was a bit confused to see the RED very much to the left - if I am not wrong. I cannot do things properly = as mentioned I am no expert on optics or colorimetry.

I will see what I get out - mine is a 294PROC by the way ...

QHYceced,
Can you put up a 47M image you took during the daytime...maybe of your neighbor's roof. It will be huge so if you could put it up on dropbox or something similar and post a link to it here.

I would love to take a look at it.  Use the 120 whitebalance values as per QinXiaoXu.

Many thanks

Peter

There it is - .TIFF , Debayer off, 16 RGB set - I have to say it did clear the Histograms - not talking about the spikes which went away with Debayer off, but the fact at 16 RGB it is a clear nice wave!

I have done a TIFF ~60Mb - while a FIT would have been ~91M and not visible on browsers.

That OK?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/gxv7xk2t2bep2xn/2021-03-11-1523_3-Capture_00001.tif?dl=0

Might be a bit dark.

This is a second one but RGB at 30 - I think I remember to ave read of people using it at 30 !
It seems 30 is the limit before wave start to be noisy.

Please note, although I am an Electronics Technician, I do not know much on Optics and Cameras - be gentle with me, please.

Not done any Flats or Darks with this re-install.

I will wait for release of 47M RGB ... and maybe if weather and time permits it, I might even try it on a AR152/988 as 11M

... and this is at 47M - exposure 1.18ms

Hi
Finally found some free time - do not know for how long!

I did a clean-up and uninstalled everything.
Reinstalled 21.02.26 all-in-one package version.

Device manager detects it as QHY5IIIseries_IO, but Sharpcap BETA 4.0.7438.0 does not see camera - so probably ... too BETA ...!

I see it on 3.2.6480 (64bit) - I copied/pasted QHYCCD files on both versions:

1. pointed to neighbour's roof at 11M, Raw 16, 1x1, Debayer ON - I guess RGGB
2. I see RGB set to 120 - have these setting been changed and made same as ZWO ? Just curious.
3. Set Gain to 1601 and Exposure to 0.592 ms, Temp 0?C

Light is variable as Sun come and goes ...

Here is Sharpcap PrtScr

Hi,
Sorry for this, this is because QHY294's 47MP mode used quardbayer, this is a new bayer format,it is hard to analyse data,so we developed QHY294C first when develop 11MP,and publiced the QHY294PROC when developed 47MP mode. And now we are delveloping the new function for quardbayer, this will take some time.
Best Regards,
QinXiaoXu

I understand it takes time doing 'things', but the fact still remains, we unwillingly are the testers now ...

OK ...

;D ;D ;D

This camera is becoming a farce now!

The main problem is in the title of this thread!!!

Installed QHYCCD_Win_AllInOne.21.02.26.18 and nothing works ...

Seriously thinking of sending it back ...
Well, you mean after updating driver and SDK to newest version, your camera still have issue?
Best Regards,
QinXiaoXu

I mean after re-installing QHYCCD_Win_AllInOne.21.02.20.13 I now am back as it was, but with 47M 'seems' without any lines etc. - very clear, but still MONO and not colour.

Why do we have to endure all this pain since November 2020 to make a camera work as it was supposed to work from the beginning.

I still do not understand why the decision to put the QHY294c and PROC on sale and still did not have a fully working software and drivers.

I would understand tweaks, not continuously modifying it ... I am seriously thinking to change hobby now ... - it is just frustrating to get all these problems after one spends a lot of money expecting to solve most problems ...
