I agree with Alberic !

Of course we don't know the price, but I think it's at least worth checking, if you can...

This sensor is so above everything else that is currently available, it fits so perfectly my setup, that i would consider paying a big bunch.
And I think it's the same for a lot of other astronomers. Getting a nice working full frame system is hard, and especially for a 60Mp camera like the imx455. Having a system optimized for APS-C or 4/3" is way easier...

And the 0.5e- on that pixel size in monochrome... damn. That would make a huge difference in lucky imaging.

Hello,

This year we will release a new sony 4/3inch monochrome sensor and maybe APS-C monochrom sensor. Maybe consider this.

Hello Alberic,

This sensor looks very good. But I guess high cost?

Hello,

the SDK for imager, imager-2 and the guider is the same. So just rename it to the qhyccdguider.dll

New Camera Information / Re: New sony sensors : IMX462 and IMX485

Hello Alteric.

Today we have almost finished the test of the readout noise. The data from gain 0-400 looks good . The readout noise is about 0.52 at gain more than 400.

After 400 due to the background histgram is outside of the range and the test data has some problem. We will adjust it and test it again. The max gain is about 730.

QHYCCD Standard Software Q&A / Re: QHY5III290M won't guide

Hello,

Here we make a test version. Please check if this can solve the problem.  After uncompress the file. Please check if you c:/programme file(x86)/common/ascom/camera , if it has the /x86 and /64 folder, if yes, you can put it into the c:/programme file(x86)/common/ascom/camera/x86 folder to replace the old qhyccd.dll. If not , you can put to the c:/programme file(x86)/common/ascom/camera to replace the old qhyccd.dll

You can use the ascom camera setup dialog to check if the version is the 20.05.23.3

QHYCCD Standard Software Q&A / Re: Broadcast driver not working
« on: May 21, 2020, 10:39:01 AM »
Hello,
The broadcast driver license is experied . You can use the native WDM driver to do it.  You can upgrade the QHYCCD.DLL in the native WDM working folder to let it support the new camra.

We will check the experied reason .

Hello Alberic,

But sony say it is the FD_binning.? I will check it. Maybe 342 is FD but 432 is not...

Hello Alberic,

The IMX482 SNR1 is 0.07lx  But looks it is not 1/4 of the 0.18. The IMX485 SNR1 is 0.18. If 2*2binning it should be 0.18/4?  So maybe it is not a FD binnign. Just a math binning.

Hello,

I did a test software that can test this issue. Can you make a remote desktop that we can connect to it and try it?

Hello ,

We may need a test enviorment to confirm if our modifcation take actions. Can you tell me how often that you meet the camera hang issue. If we can easy to repeat in your computer?  We did some test software and want to run it.

Hello Alberic,

We will test it asap. And general speaking the gen3 sony global shutter sensor should have better readout noise . The Gen2 is even better. The QHY550 camera get a readout noise from 2.0e-2.5e.

Hi Qiu,
Hi Romain,
Hi All,

Very interesting results !  ;)

My 2 questions would be  :
- Is there a SNR1s value somewhere for the IMX462 ?
- Is the IMX462 better (SNR, read noise, "Amp Glow") than the legendary IMX224 (and IMX385) ??

I directly sign for a monochrome camera with IMX485 !
But it's only a dream...

Alb?ric

It is said the SNR1=0.18    I know IMX385 is 0.13.  And we need to get rid of the image area factor to compare them?  The 462 is 2.9um*2.9um.  The 385 is 3.75um*3.75um  The area ratio is 1.67 times. If we convert the 462 to 385 size, it is 0.10.   So looks it is better than 0.13.  So it shows the 462 has better SNR at the same pixel size

For the readout nosie. We will do a scan and get the curves soon!

For monochrom. I am not sure. I think depent the market requirment. Like the IMX290, at first it has color version and later the mono version come out.

Great news !
The three images are in visible light only, with different gain settings, right ?
Readout noise seems lower.

Romain

Yes. This is in visible light only.  with different gain.
The sHCG mode do shows the capality of the low readout noise.

Hello ,

Now we have a very early test resutls to compare QHY5III290C and QHY5III462C side by side .

We noticed in visual light. The QHY5III462C will be higher SNR than QHY5III290C due to the sHCG feature of the IMX462 sensor.  Please see the compare imaging.

And we also use the TV IR remoter to test the IR response and found a huge increasing in IR band.  From sony document we know it is almost double QE there.

Left is QHY5III290C (in visual light , with IR cut filter) . Right is QHY5III462C (in visual light , with IR cut filter)

Best regards,
Qiu Hongyun

Hello,

Yes I think we can solve this . It looks that we need to modify the firmware of  QHY695A to allow a very fast call of the getCFWStatus .  Doing it now and just waiting on our news.

Best regards,
Qiu Hongyun
