Hi,
Do you test your QHY5 by your friends Windows?I can control my QHY5 work well on my Linux 16.04 machine.
I find a topic,he has same issue with you, maybe you can get some help.

Hmm.  It is possible. I have checked all the other ports, but it still doesn't work.  My tests with my friend yesterday were inconclusive.

I have another friend I spoke to yesterday who does have a QHY5 that works and he can test mine.  I'm thinking about how to do this.

Really I need to try on another laptop.

your output is 1618:0901?
well, the methof of downloading firmware is:
input command to check if there is a 85-qhyccd.rules
$sudo find / -name 85-qhyccd.rules
/etc/udev/rules.d/85-qhyccd.rules
/usr/local/rules.d/85-qhyccd.rules
/lib/udev/rules.d/85-qhyccd.rules
if there are three 85-qhyccd.rules on above ptah, next check if there is a firmware named QHY5.HEX in /lib/firmware/qhy.If there is a firmware named QHY5.HEX and 3 85-qhyccd.rules on your Linux, but camera still  be not download firmware, you can use command do it,the method is:
$ls /sbin
check if there is a executable file named fxload,if so,
$cd /sbin
$sudo ./fxload -t fx2 -I /lib/firmware/qhy/QHY5.HEX -D /dev/bus/usb/xxx/yyy
/lib/firmware/qhy/QHY5.HEX is firmware's path&filename,/dev/bus/usb/xxx/yyy is device,you can join /dev/bus/usb/002 or /dev/bus/usb/003 and hot swap and look which is changed.The changed is your camera device 's descriptor.For example,if camera's descriptor is 010 in 003,and QHY5.HEX is in /lib/firmware/qhy,you need input command on terminal is:sudo ./fxload -t fx2 -I /lib/firmware/qhy/QHY5.HEX -D /dev/bus/usb/003/010

Here are the results of your diagnostics:

sudo find / -name 85-qhyccd.rules
[sudo] password for image:
/etc/udev/rules.d/85-qhyccd.rules
/home/image/x-Stronomy/QHYCCD_Linux_New/qhyccdsdk-1.0.2-linux/udev/85-qhyccd.rules
/home/image/x-Stronomy/qhyccdsdk-1.0.2-linux/udev/85-qhyccd.rules
/lib/udev/rules.d/85-qhyccd.rules

ls /lib/firmware/qhy | grep -i qhy5.hex
QHY5.HEX

So QHY5.HEX is there but one rule is missing.  Can I just copy it?

Regards

Steve.

I will try it at my site. And you can connect camera with usb, after input "lsusb",see output.
If output is 1618:0901,it seems camera didn't download firmware on Linux, after downloading firmware, pid will become 296d.
About windows, you need install ascom platform, and use ascom connect camera to software.
lsusb gives nothing that I can see:

lsusb
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

And then dmesg gives:

Did you try our new SDK release for RPI3 (qhyccdsdk-0.1.10-rpi3-gcc-4.9.tar.gz) from GitHub.com/qhyccd-lzr page ? Does this work on your site ?
Thank you,

Any news here?  I'm getting the same 110 error.  I've upgraded to the latest github version.  Still the same error.

Steve.

Hi QinXiaoXu

Thanks for replying,

1) KStars/EKOS only sees the CCD Simulator,
2) The error 110 seems to be usb power supply exceeded, so I'm going to try plugging it to a powered hub.  It seems a little strange, as I can't imagine it takes up much power.

I'll post when I have a result.

Regards,
Steve.
Ok, when I use a powered USB hub I get the same result.  So I tried on my wife's MS Windows machine.  I installed the QHY driver and update and plugged it in.

I notice two things, first the red light does not come on on the Windows machine but it does on the Linux machine - there is a bright red light, second, the windows machine give that device detected noise when you plug in and unplug (like a usb pen-drive),  but I can see no events in the event log.

What should I try next?

Regards

Steve.
